 Paul is a guitarist / composer whose styles and span of genre's reflect his age and maturity as a musician and leader. Paul regularly performs his repertoire of original solo and finger style songs on dates in the Asheville NC area, and draws on an eclectic and wonderful close knit family of musical travelers for larger events and festivals. Paul grew up in the mountains of Central VA (Lynchburg) where the influences of Clarence White, Don Reno, and other blue grass greats of that area and time left an indelible stamp on his phrasing and approach to the guitar. Later in life he embraced many other forms of music in both his writing, and performance, having worked with greats like Brian Mullens, (Boulder/ Laughing Hands & Colcannon), Tom Cat -Mr Teapot Hailey (Richmond Mo-jo working, and the Teapot Blues Band), Tom & Will McCabe among many others to numerous to mention. Paul lives and works in the art-stew-pot of Asheville NC with his life-love Janie, and his two cats "Harry the Beans-Black", and "Tillie the redneck girlfriend". Paul plays and endorses Bill Moll Custom Guitars, and uses AER amps, and DTAR preamps in performance "Bill Moll is not only a consumate craftsman and artist, but he actually listens to his customers. I can't begin to count the time he spent with me making sure the Custom Classic he built for me was voiced, and setup to my style of playing and the diverse types of music I'm called on to play. When I recieved my guitar from Bill I was astonished at its execution. I've played and owned many fine guitars in my life, but this axe was just in a totally different league. The fit / finish, and detailing are just amazing. Its acoustic voice is unique, and plugged in, its tonal response is well.. just killer. Since then I've taken delivery on one of Bills custom laminates, and again, I was amazed by it. I defy most listeners to be able to tell its a laminated instrument. It looks carved, and SOUNDs carved. Bill Moll stands out as one of the finest builders in the world today." |
